Narcotics Bureau busts racket dealing in Tidigesic injections

The sleuths of the Narcotics Intellignece Bureau and the Chennai city police have busted a gang dealing with Tidigesic injections, a psychotropic substance. According to the Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB) Criminal Investigation Department (CID), two persons named Thangasamy alias Thangaraj from Thondiarpet and Ramesh of Royapuram, have been arrested from the Kilpauk area this week for illegally possessing 980 vials of Tidigesic injections worth about one lakh rupees. A press release from NIB CID informed that the accused had confessed the contraband was procured from an unknown person in Rajasthan, and the duo was planning to sell the drug among the college students in and around Chennai. In another incident on Saturday, last week, the Chennai city police had seized 400 similar narcotic injections from one Sekar of Kasinmedu, suspected to be another link in the gang, said the sources.
