The Army Headquarters has cleared a Rs 365 crore expansion project at the Command Hospital in Pune. Under this project the Hospital will have a new hospital complex at its present premises.
The new complex will accommodate all basic specialties and super specialties under one roof. At present these specialties are scattered all over in the premises, said Maj. Gen A P Singh, Commandant of the Hospital at a press conference here, on the eve of the 37th anniversary of the Hospital.
The project, which is already cleared by the Army Headquarters, will cost about Rs 365 cores and is awaiting clearance from the Government, which will be received by the year end. The Commandant further said that the construction of the complex would take about five years to complete. The new complex will replace 60-year-old set up of the Command Hospital and create a seven storied set up.
Speaking on the facilities extended by the hospital for the civilian population. Maj Gen Singh said that out of the 1000 beds at the hospital, 200 beds are earmarked for civilians and allotted to various departments and these beds are fully occupied at any given point of time. More than 1500 civilian patients are visiting various civil OPDs at the hospital daily.
The hospital, which is spread over about 100 acres, can boast of some of the unique facilities. For example, Paediatric Nephrology Department of the hospital is the only one of its kind in Pune City. Throughout the country there are only seven such centres. This is the only Centre in Pune that provides ambulatory peritoneal dialysis for children as a result of which they can have dialysis during night and go to School during daytime.
The hospital is using cutting edge technology. Its dual headed gamma camera which can scan any part of the body non- invasive is a feather on its cap. Nuclear medicine centre and Urology Department are using the latest state off the art machinery. The hospital has elaborate lab facilities in five branches of hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, histopathology and serology. Besides, the hospital also provides rehabilitative services. It has modern physiotherapy Department and vocational training centre. "Our aim is to provide patient centric quality medical care with professional excellence" said the Commandant.
