NPPA revises bulk prices of Phenyl Butazone, Aspirin, Ibuprofen

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has slashed the price of Phenyl Butazone bulk drug from Rs 478 /Kg to Rs 352/ Kg. A corresponding revision in the formulation prices is expected soon. The authority has also revised upwards the ceiling prices of Aspirin and Ibuprofen bulk drugs from Rs 119 /Kg to Rs 134 / kg and Rs 376 /kg to Rs 384 / kg respectively. According to NPPA explanatory note, the upward revision was necessitated due to the requests from the manufacturers. The industry had complained about the increase in input costs. These prices were fixed /revised vide notification in the Gazette of India Extraordinary S.O No. 1133(E) to 1135(E) dated 15th October 2004. The revised notified prices shall become effective within 15 days from the date of notification in the Official Gazette.
