Everest Pharma innovates to launch powder form Kashayams

Everest Pharma has launched in the market more than 60 Kashaya Sooktha Choornams (KSC), an innovative ready-to-use preparation in fine powder form instead of the traditional Ayurvedic liquid formulations popularly known as Kashayams. Talking to Pharmabiz recently in Chennai, Joyachan K Erinjery, managing director of Everest Pharma said the Chiyyaram-based company was the first in the state to innovate KSCs and the products have excellent movement in the market. KSCs are user friendly and enable the patients to prepare kwathas themselves as and when needed, besides avoiding the difficulty in handling liquid formulations. KSC is cent per cent natural as it lacks any preservatives, and is prepared as per the traditional texts, with unique manufacturing process and sophisticated manufacturing and quality control equipments. The popular KSCs of Everest Pharma include Amrutharajanyadi, Amruthotharam, Aragwatham, Ashtavargam, Balajeerakadi, Bruhathyadi, Cheriyarasnadi, Chiruvilwadi, Dhanadanayadi, Dasamoolakasuthrayam, Dasamoolam, Dhanwantharam, Drakshadi, Dusparsakadi, Dwigunarasnadi, Elakanadi, Gandharvahasthadi, Gulguluthikthakam, Guluchyadi, Indukantham, Kalasakadi etc. He said the first KSC product was developed in 1983, and extensive clinical trials were conducted at Amala Ayurveda Hospital and under the guidance of the renowned medical practitioner Dr. K Rajagopalan. Since then, all the products undergo severe clinical trials at various leading hospitals. Everest Pharma is claimed to be the first company in the world to receive ISO 14001:1996, 9001:2000 and WHO GMP. Everest Pharma manufactures over 400 traditional formulations and 50 patent and proprietary medicines, besides the 60 KSCs. Joyachan said the company plans to launch Ayurvedic medicines in tablets, capsules, syrups and ointment form, besides setting up Everest Ayurvedic hospitals and consultation centres in different parts of the country. The company has a separate herbal plant garden to cultivate quality raw materials. Apart from the Kerala market, Everest Pharma has made significant presence in the Andaman and Nicobar islands. Some of its products have been launched in the Tamil Nadu market, at the Arogya 2005 exhibition held recently in Chennai.
