Chinese Cardiologists to be trained on angioplasty at Wockhardt

In a major collaborative teaching exchange programme between Wockhardt Hospital and Heart Institute and the Cardiovascular Department of Tongren Hospital, Beijing, cardiologists from the latter will undergo one- month long Angioplasty training session in Bangalore. Dr. Ranganath Nayak, Interventional Cardiologist, Wockhardt Hospital and Heart Institute, Bangalore will monitor the teaching programme. "As part of the learning experience, these cardiologists will participate in the interventional procedures being undertaken in our Cath lab at Wockhardt," stated Dr. Nayak. A similar arrangement is currently in practice with Chinese cardiac surgeons undergoing training in beating heart Coronary Bypass surgery under Dr Vivek Jawali at Wockhardt in Bangalore. As one of the selected Indian cardiologists and the only one from Bangalore, Dr. Nayak was invited as faculty to the China Interventional Therapeutics (CIT) 2005 Congress at Beijing. He also conducted a teaching session on Angioplasty at the Fuxing Hospital, Beijing. "These collaborative teaching programmes in Cardiology and Cardiac surgery between Wockhardt and Institutions like Tongren Hospital in China are a symbol medical co-operation for better patient care. We are enthused that Wockhardt Hospital is increasingly playing an important role in the faster development of new cardiac procedures for cardiac patients in China," said Vishal Bali, vice president (Operations), Wockhardt Hospitals.
