Organon, the human healthcare business unit of Akzo Nobel N.V., Tiger Brands, through its healthcare subsidiary Adcock Ingram, and Donmed Pharmaceuticals have agreed to transfer the marketing and distribution rights of the Organon range of products in Southern Africa from Donmed to Adcock Ingram. Under the terms of the agreement, Adcock Ingram will acquire Donmed Pharmaceuticals' business, which encompasses the marketing and distribution rights of the research-based Organon range of human pharmaceutical products in Southern Africa, held by Donmed Pharmaceuticals since 1987. The agreement is subject to the appropriate approvals required in terms of the South African Competition Act. "Adcock Ingram has had a long association with Donmed, has distributed the Organon product range in South Africa since 1948 and has provided administrative services to Donmed since the early 80's", said Adcock Ingram chief executive, Mike Norris. "The Organon products complement our existing portfolios in the reproductive health and psychiatric categories. In addition, access to Organon's new product development programme offers exciting opportunities for the future," he said. Organon - with shared head offices in Roseland, NJ, USA and Oss, The Netherlands - creates, manufactures and markets its products in over 100 countries, of which more than 60 have an Organon subsidiary. Organon is the human health care business unit of Akzo Nobel.
