Haffkine Institute, a premier healthcare research institute in Mumbai, will launch a new interactive website to network research institutions in different parts of the country and abroad with the institute and to help public interact with the institute on healthcare matters.
The website will be launched on 23rd October, 2005 on the occasion of 'Tadvidya Sambhasha Ayurveda- 2' symposium at Durbar Hall, Haffkine Institute.
"The previous website of the institute has not been revised for a long period. The purpose of launching a new website is to interact with the common public as well as the scientists and research institutes from all over the world. This site would give details of the research activities and developments in the institute," said Dr. Ranjana Deshmukh, director, Haffkine Institute.
"It would be updated regularly so that the activities and developments in the institute reach the people. Also, through the site it would be feasible for our students and scientists abroad or anywhere in the country to interact with us and contribute their knowledge towards the success of the institute," she elaborated.
Haffkine was the co- organiser for the first 'Tadvidya Sambhasha' seminar held at Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan in February, 2005. The forthcoming seminar is organised in association with research institutes like International Ayurved Foundation, UK, Dr. Palep's Medical Education and Reasearch Trust, L.T.M.M. college and hospital, TIMES foundation etc. Eminent speakers from the various fields of medicine and research will attend the seminar.
The topics to be discussed in the Ayurveda symposiuim are 'Bhasma Kalpana', 'Rasayana Kalpana' and Srotodushti and Obesity'. Despite the cutting edge technology, the modern conventional health care system is burdened with problems of unsafe medicines, resistant infections, auto- immune disorders, degenerative and ageing diseases etc. Thus, the colloquium would explore the experimental wisdom of Ayurveda that can offer healthier solutions to these problems. The purpose of the seminar is to explore the scientific foundation of Ayurveda for its worldwide, trans- cultural popularisation.
