Sophia's 'Quality Assurance' diploma accepted by food, pharma industry

Sophia College started a post graduate diploma course in 'Quality Assurance' in the food and pharma industry in 1993. Now in its second decade the course has gained both acceptance and appreciation from industry. Over 150 diploma holders have made successful careers in reputed organisations like Pfizer, Cipla, Coca Cola, and Dabur. The course aims to produce trained quality personnel in the emerging fields of biotechnology, nutraceuticals, contract research, bioequivalence and clinical trials studies. The course, the only one of its kind, is run in close collaboration with industry. The curriculum includes basic elements of quality Assurance (QA) and total quality management (TQM) as applicable to the food and pharma industry. Technical aspects, right from raw materials used in various industrial units to line production and packaging, are comprehensively covered during the programme. Knowledge of quality standards and legislation forms a vital part of the course work. The course content is upgraded regularly to meet the changing needs of industry, informed officials.
