IDMA's pharmaceutical park in Gujarat receives Central clearance

The Pharma Techno Park in Changodar, promoted by Indian Drug Manufacturers Association (IDMA) has received the Central Government clearance. Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL and FS) will be developing the park. The park aims to help pharmaceutical industry in Gujarat. Thirty five units have acquired land in the park. The park is in its preliminary stage of development and is expected to be operational in a year. The park will house more than 30 pharmaceutical and formulation units and five to six ancillary units over an area of 1,60,000 square yards. Total cost including infrastructure comes to around Rs.10 crore. The total investment would be approximately Rs.300 crore. Many small scale units will also be setting up their facilities. This will be first cluster development project in pharmaceutical sector and will be providing major competitive advantage to the SMEs, also providing them assistance to overcome the existing limitations. This project mainly focuses on the export oriented units and with the revised GMP, the units will be able to fight in international market. The project will be having quality infrastructure, captive power plant, research and development centre, common testing laboratory and common effluent treatment plant.
