Periyar College organises national seminar on IPR from Jan 20-21

Periyar College of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Girls, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, organised a national seminar on Intellectual Property Rights, on January 20th and 21st, 2006. The seminar was sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Department. Prof. Dr. AR. Mullaicharam, principal, Periyar College, said that strong intellectual property system determined a country's strength in the 21st century and the present patent law provided lot of challenges as well as opportunities. M. Priyadharshini and R. Banumathi, examiners of patents and designs, Chennai, threw light on IPR and patenting in biotechnology respectively. Eminent profesionals like Thomas Roy Kadichini, patent attorney, Sami Labs Ltd., Bangalore; Dr. Rajani Giridhar, University of Baroda, Vadodara; M. Madhav Kukarni, patent manager, Biocon, Bangalore; Uma Parameshwaram, CEO, Sci Tech Patent Art Services Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad delivered informative lectures covering various aspects of Intellectual Property Rights at the seminar, informed the organisers.
