IPER holds seminar on 'The changing scenario on drug delivery systems' on Jan 28

A national seminar on 'The changing scenario on drug delivery systems' was held at Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (IPER), Wardha on January 28, 2006. The seminar was sponsored by the Maharashtra state branch of Association of Pharmacy Teachers. Dr S.N. Pathan, vice-chancellor, Rashtra Sant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University, who was the chief guest at the event, said, "Herbal medicines were opening a great era of research in India. Yoga and bio-diversity are our strengths. The novel drug delivery system should reach out to the common man." Dr Ved Prakash, vice chancellor, Shri. Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences Deemed University, Nagpur, threw light on the prescription drug delivery system. He said that these drugs should be easily available to the needy. Three scientific sessions and one poster presentation session was conducted as a part of the seminar. Bio-degradation polymers in drug delivery, amorphous drugs for effective bio-availability of dosage firm and bio-adhesive systems were subjects highlighted at the seminar. Scientific oral sessions were also held at the seminar. It provided a platform to young scientist for presentation of their research work. 200 delegates from all across the nation participated in the seminar. Eminent faculty and pharmaceutical professionals present at the event were Dr S.S. Gode, vice-chancellor, Vidrabha Youth Welfare Society, Amravati; Dr B.R. Reddy, director, operations, Granules India Ltd.; Dr R.K. Khar, Hamdard University; Dr V.K. Mourya, Aurangabad and Dr. Anand Paradkar, Pune.
