Aurobindo receives US FDA approval for Lisinopril tabs

Aurobindo Pharma Ltd has obtained US Food Drug Administration (FDA) approval for its Lisinopril tablets 2.5, 5, 10, 20, 30 and 40 mg. Lisinopril is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. ACE inhibitors are used for controlling blood pressure, treating heart failure and preventing kidney damage in people with hypertension or diabetes. They also benefit patients, who have had heart attacks. The market opportunity for the current approval is around USD 600 millions. The product is manufactured at the FDA approved multi purpose plant situated at Bachupally (UNIT-III) This CVS segment generally referred as 'prils', has a turnover of over $3.5 bio in USA alone and is a key component of the company's product portfolio. APL has a comprehensive portfolio of over ten prils in its pipeline and is vertically integrated.
