Worth about US $ 65 billion, the pharmaceutical market in Japan is considered to be number two in the world. Currently, Japan represents 13% of the global pharmaceutical business. Nearly 1400 pharmaceutical manufacturing companies operate in this country employing over 200,000 people. However, this second largest pharma market remained aloof for those outside Japan for quite some time. But in July 2002, Japanese government revised the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law. It changed the then existing "manufacturing approval system" with "sales approval system''. This replacement helped opening up the traditionally tough Japanese market, enabling manufacturers to virtually totally outsource production. Now that increasing number of pharmaceutical manufacturers are seeking production alliances from outside Japan. CPhI Japan comes to the fore assuming tremendous significance at this juncture. Hailed as the nation's premier annual pharma services event, CPhI Japan offers a broader platform for aspirants seeking to foray the lucrative Japanese market. Covering a wide range of industry-specific topics and issues on pharma ingredients trends, technologies etc., CPhI Japan is evidently the best business meeting place for outsourcing companies to present their technique, service and products into vast pharma market. This year's show - CPhI 2006 -is scheduled to be held at Tokyo's Big Sight, from 24 - 26 April, is expected to host over 450 exhibitors and more than 14,000 visitors along with its associated event International Contract Services Expo (ICSE). Visitors will have free entry to six Keynote Seminars, 20 Special Seminar sessions and over 60 Exhibitor Presentations at April's three-day event. There will be around 6 seminar sessions altogether. And free seminars 4-6 will look at: The Role of Japan in the Promotion of Global Development of Pharmaceutical Products; the US Fine Chemical Business (led by SOCMA) and Trends and Prospects in Japan's Pharmaceutical Industry. To ensure individual needs and facilitate convenience of display, CPhI Japan 2006 provides a whole range of pavilions: Italy pavilion, China pavilion, US Zone, Korea pavilion, Hungary pavilion, UK pavilion, Taiwan pavilion and German pavilion.
