Sance Pharma setting up a new plant at a cost of Rs15 cr

Sance Pharmaceuticals, a Kerala based IV fluid manufacturer, is setting up a new plant at a cost of Rs 15 crore to manufacture export oriented pharmaceutical products. The new company Sance Laboratories Pvt Ltd, will initially focus on manufacture and export of cephalosporin and a few other anti-biotic products. The plant is coming up at Kozhuvanal at Kottayam district, in an area of 1.5 acre premises, with a built up area of 64,000 sq.ft. The promoters' plan to develop the facility abiding by US FDA standards. The unit would focus on manufacturing of cephalosporin injections, capsules, tablets and dry syrups. The plant has been operational and commercial production would begin within nine months, according to Manoj Joseph, managing director, Sance Laboratories. Initially the company would focus on exporting its products to Africa, Latin America and South East Asia, besides launching in India. "Our manufacturing plant meets all the provisions under US FDA guidelines. We envisage an entry into the regulated market after a period of exporting in the African and South Asian countries," Manoj told Pharmabiz. The new facility has a capacity to produce 50,000 injections per shift. The management is also planning to wind up the Rs 2 crore Sance Pharmaceuticals, and to exit from manufacturing and marketing of IV fluids, said Manoj.
