Pharmexcil will be sending a business delegation to Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Myanmar during June- July 2006. This will be carried out under Focus-ASEAN, as per the revised MDA guidelines. Buyer and Seller Meets (BSMs) are also being planned as part of this visit.
As per DGCIS, the Indian pharmaceutical companies have registered exports to Singapore at Rs 221.69 crore in 2003-04 which has increased to Rs 225.98 crore in 2004-05. The exports to the region has grown to 308.68 crore between April 2005 till February 2006.
Indian pharma exports to Indonesia in 2003-04 accounted to Rs 84.63 crore which raised to Rs 176.62 crore in 2004-05. The exports have further increased to Rs 151.66 crore during the period April 2005 and February 2006.
Pharma exports to Thailand were worth Rs 237.24 crore during 2003-04, whereas the exports declined to Rs 214.10 crore in 2004-05. Between April 2005 and February 2006, the exports to the country had been Rs 195.33 crore.
Myanmar, a smaller market than the Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand markets, accounted for Rs 72.45 crore during 2003-04, which improved to Rs 92.96 crore in 2004-05. The exports have already reached Rs 106.91 crore during April 2005-February 2006.
The delegation may also take part in the ISPE Singapore Conference 2006 which will be held during 25-27 June 2006 at Suntec City, Singapore. The event relates to pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in Asia-Pacific, bringing together international suppliers, industry regulators and pharmaceutical professionals from multinational and regional manufacturers in the region. In addition to a comprehensive programme of 4 workshops, 9 specific industry tracks, the ISPE conference will feature pharmaceutical plant visits to key manufacturing facilities of Pfizer, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Schering Plough and A-Bio Pharma in Singapore.
