Themis Medicare suffers setback during FY'06

Themis Medicare suffered a setback during financial year ended March 2006 and its net profit declined by 11.1 per cent to Rs 4.98 crore from Rs 5.60 crore in the previous year mainly on account of fire at its Vapi factory during January 2006. The basic EPS came down to Rs 1.57 from Rs 7.04. The board of directors recommended equity dividend of 15 per cent. The company's net sales increased by 20.4 per cent to Rs 116.13 crore from Rs 96.46 crore. Its other income, including contract manufacturing activity of biotech product, increased to Rs 2.84 crore from Rs 1.06 crore. With higher interest cost of Rs 4.63 crore as against Rs 2.93 crore in the last year, its profit before tax declined by 28.6 per cent to Rs 4.62 crore from Rs 6.47 crore. As against the equity capital of Rs 8.05 crore, its reserves and surplus amounted to Rs 50.54 crore during the year ended March 2006.
