Recognizing the need of the hour, and also in view of the fact that there is a shortage of proper treatment for cancer in the country, Ruby Hall Clinic, Pune, is all set to provide an excellent cancer treatment to its patients. The state-of-the-art Kamalnayan Bajaj Cancer Centre at the Zavaray Poonawala Cancer Building situated in the Ruby Hall Clinic has 36-bed day care unit, an ICU and six operation theatres. Ruby Hall Clinic's Kamalnayan Bajaj Cancer Centre is spread over 70,000 sq. ft. space with a total investment of Rs 45 crore. The centre is the world's fifth and Asia's only beta site cancer centre. Speaking on the occasion Dr Chaitanyanand Koppiker, director, Cancer Centre, Ruby Hall Clinic, said: "This is a significant event in the city of Pune and will bring about a quantum of change in the quality of care being provided to the suffering patient". He added, "The centre will aim at a holistic and a comprehensive cancer treatment wherein all patients will have the benefit of expert opinion conceived through speciality joint clinics and services". Adding further, he said: "I am happy to be associated with a centre which will offer the least necessary treatment with maximum benefit in an ambience of serenity and bliss. Ruby Hall Clinic has entered into a unique 10-year collaboration with "Siemens" for all technology and product developments being done. This agreement has brought about the installation of the only linear accelerator with image guide radiotherapy at the cancer centre. This agreement identifies Ruby Hall Clinic as a "Siemens beta site" and is the fifth site in the world, and Asia's only beta site. "We will be able to remain perpetually abreast of the latest developments in medical equipments. In future, new techniques will be developed jointly with Siemens, and our experience will be built into the product, said Bomi Bhote, CEO of Ruby Hall Clinic, adding: "The centre is being built to ensure that a patient would not need to go out of the premises for any form of treatment whatsoever." The IGRT goes beyond the traditional method, which eradicates all cells in the area. Its 3-D imaging focuses on just those cells affected by cancer, rather than all the cells in the area, and thus protecting the healthy cells. In the continued endeavour to provide quality medical services and to promote overall development of the community at large Ruby Hall Clinic plans to set up 5 satellite cancer centres in Maharahstra. The first of the five will start operations at Aurangabad's Kamalnayan Bajaj Cancer Centre, which will aid doctors to treat patients without either of them travelling. Ruby Hall Clinic has been the pioneer and trailblazer in the field of medical services in India and plans to expand its vision by taking over the management of a hospital in Bahrain and Mumbai.
