MET to start degree course in Clinical Laboratory Science and M Pharm next year

Mumbai Educational Trust's Institute of Medical Science and Pharmacy of Mumbai, in collaboration with Sehat India Health Care Services Pvt. Ltd, will start a three-year degree course in "Clinical Laboratory Science" and M Pharm. in 2007. A source said MET is currently in the process of upgrading the laboratories. As soon as the labs complete modernisation, MET will initiate the admission procedure after due approvals. At present MET conducts pharma courses such as Post Graduate Diploma in pharmaceutical Business Management (PGDPBM) approved by the director of technical education, claimed to be Mumbai's only government recognised one-year full time diploma course in pharmaceutical business management. MET's Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science (BPS) course is affiliated to Mumbai university and is recognized by AICTE and PCI. The Diploma in Pharmacy (DP) course is also recognised by Government of Maharashtra and Pharmacy Council of India. . The course objectives are to impart systematic knowledge of basic and applied of pharmaceutical business management, and survey different areas and find opportunity for sales of drug/pharmaceutical goods and, BPS and DP specifically designed to create professionals who will make a mark in the pharmaceutical industry. On completion of the course the students can get registration as pharmacists and can establish own medical shops. The placement cell of MET strives to place all the students in the prominent corporates. So far the institute has always had a 100 per cent placement record. The students now occupy enviable position in top pharmaceutical companies. Sources said MET's placement cell regularly contacts the corporates for the placement process. It consists of a team of teachers and senior students from both the programmes. Most pharmaceutical companies regularly recruit students through campus interviews. Our students are making their mark in companies like: Burroughs Wellcome, Cipla, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Elder Pharma, German Remedies, Glenmark Pharma.
