Fifth volume of Ayurveda Pharmacopoeia of India released

The fifth volume of Ayurveda Pharmacopoeia of India has been recently released. It consists of 93 monographs of Ayurvedic single drugs used in different formulations. The book is a guide for Ayurvedic drugs to maintain quality of Ayurvedic products and provide a baseline for scientists who want to know about different single drugs used in Ayurveda. Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia Committee comprising of experts of various interrelated fields and different laboratories engaged in research work has standardized these Ayurvedic drugs. The outcome of these scientific tasks is the fifth volume of Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India. Presently about 1000 single drugs and 8000 compound formulations are used in Ayurveda. The system of Ayurveda embraces within its fold, drugs of plants, animal and mineral origin both single and compound formulations.
