Aurobindo Pharma Ltd has announced that US FDA has approved its product, "meloxicam 7.5mg and 15mg tablets".
Meloxicam is a NSAID (Non steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic) normally used to reduce pain, tenderness, swelling, fever and stiffness of joints associated with arthritis and various other conditions where inflammatory component is involved.
The company manufactures meloxicam API and formulations. Meloxicam is effective in low therapeutic doses in comparison to many other drugs of its class. It belongs to Enolic acid group. Meloxicam is a generic version of Mobic, a product of Boehringer Ingelheim. Meloxicam is one of the top selling molecules in its therapeutic group. This approval enables the company to participate in a market of over a billion USD.
