Dr MUR Naidu appointed as new dean of NIMS

Dr MUR Naidu, professor and head, Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) has been appointed as the new dean of the Institute with effect from September 25, 2006. The Institute is one of the key centres for clinical research in India. Dr Naidu joined NIMS in November 1986 as an assistant professor in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics and has reached the position of head-Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics in March 1995. Before joining NIMS, Dr Naidu served as a senior research executive in IDPL Research Centre for six years till 1986. He served as an Expert Committee Member of UGC, Government of India; nominated as Member of 'Human Experimentation' of the Indian Pharmacological Society (IPS). Some of his outstanding achievements include developing new non invasive device for evaluation of pulse wave velocity and arterial stiffness. He holds MBBS and MD (Pharmacology). He has been chosen as Fellow of College Chest Physicians (FCCP) in 1988 and Fellow of Indian Pharmacological Society (FIPS) in 2000. He also obtained a WHO Fellowship for advanced training on Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring.
