Clariant Chemicals net zooms to Rs 10.27 cr in Q2

Clariant Chemicals (India), formerly known as Colour-Chem Ltd, achieved strong performance during the second quarter ended September 2006 on account of amalgamation of several companies. Its net profit went up sharply to Rs 10.27 crore from Rs 2.70 crore in the corresponding period of last year, a growth of 280 per cent. Its net sales touched to Rs 229.40 crore from Rs 95.77 crore. With smart gain in profitability, its earning per share improved to Rs 3.85 as against Rs 2.32 in the last period. For the first half ended its net profit improved to Rs 25.46 crore from Rs 8.90 crore in the similar half of last year and its net sales increased to Rs 458.84 crore from Rs 194.92 crore. The company amalgamated erstwhile Clariant (I) Ltd, Vanavil Dyes and Chemicals, BTP India Pvt Ltd and Kundalika Investments Ltd, effective from March 31, 2006. Hence the previous periods’ figures are not comparable with those of the current period. The company now change the accounting year from March to December in the current year. Accordingly the company shall close its accounts for a period of nine months ending on December 31, 2006.
