Al though the Indian women are qualified, knowledgeable and health conscious, many of them lack awareness about the feminine hygiene. And in the rural areas, it is a major health issue amongst women, according, Dr Shyam V Desai, president Indian Association of Gynaecological Endoscopist. he said, "Proper hygiene contributes to overall good health. It is necessary to have a gynaecologist check up in every six month for both married and unmarried women. Because it is reduces the chances for cancer after the age of 35'. Lack of hygiene in the private parts could lead to irritation, odour problem, vaginal infections, white discharge, itching, burning sensation and dryness. There are also a number of vaginal infections like bacterial virginitis, candidiasis, mixed infections, trichomoniasis, leucorrhoea and non-specific vaginitis that could arise due to lack of hygiene. In India, urban women are more aware of the necessity for hygiene in their genital area. However, rural areas women they are still badly informed about 'Feminine Hygiene'. "To make them aware about feminine hygiene, we are planning to organise awareness programmes in the city as well as in the remote areas. The programme is expected to be start form the January 2007all over India," he added. Most female hygiene problems were experienced during the menstrual phase and it was at this time the hygiene of private parts became most salient. Gynaecologist reports that through fungal infection, over 50 per cent patients suffer from vaginal diseases. There is a need for a product, which tackles all the problems related to feminine hygiene. Lactacyd is a feminine hygiene wash for intimate areas, which is available in the market. It helps in controlling the pH balance, and provides a natural defence against irritations, itching, soreness and infection.
