With a number of companies setting up high-tech facilities in India, an important aspect is gearing up to plan, organize and manage their resources. ERP is the buzzword among majority of pharmaceuticals, and there is enough justification for the same. What the companies do not realize is that, in the process of working with an ERP on the backend, a lot of documents (SOP's, Recurring/Capacity Journals, BOM's, Sales Invoices, Validation Documents etc.) are being generated which are critical and need to be properly handled. A pharmaceutical company needs to follow strict regulatory guidelines while formulating documents reflecting internal and external business processes. ERP fails to realize the importance of these documents, for the company may indefinitely need these at different locations, which is answered by an efficient Document Management System (DMS). DMS allows managing the documents as per regulatory authorities guidelines while implementing the highest level of authenticity, security and reliability. Essentially, DMS allows the right kind of information at the right time across the enterprise, which will make the decision making process accurate and efficient. Also real time access to accurate information makes employees more productive, ultimately resulting in improved business process efficiencies To conclude, ERP along with a DMS system can provide various departments with access to key business information while eliminating redundant efforts and lowering the risk of error caused by inaccurate or outdated content thereby maximizing the bottom line.
