One more stride by Smilax group owned Biogenetic

Smilax Pharmaceuticals, which started off operations through its first plant at Jaipur, has ventured into manufacturing of herbals, besides offering contract-manufacturing services for major pharmaceutical companies. Smilax Pharmaceuticals, established in 1984, commenced operations manufacturing oral liquid section and later added sections like tablet and capsules, at its Jaipur factory. The company has its main focus on loan licence and Pto P manufacturing for major pharma companies. The company is to focus on these areas, as the recent changes in tax structure created a lot of scope for outsourcing, with its plant designed as per WHO GMP norms to meet export requirements. With a plan to enter the herbal medicine market in a big way, the company has set up a new plant at Baddi by the name Smilax Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. which has also started commercial production. The modern plant for its herbal foray, Biogenetic at Baddi is worth Rs.10 crore. This has started commercial production with oral liquids, capsules, tablets and ointment sections in a built up area of 50000 sq. ft, according to M B Goyal, the man behind Smilax ventures. The company is currently manufacturing products for Lupin Ltd, Zydus Cadila Healthcare Ahmedabad, Wockhardt Ltd, Alembic Ltd, Unichem Laboratories Ltd, PCI Mumbai, Gems Pharmaceuticals Mumbai etc on loan licence and P to P basis. The Biogenetic is aiming to achieve a turnover of Rs.100 crore during the current financial year.
