NPPA cuts prices of bethamethasone derivatives, hikes ranitidine price

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has cut the prices of all the three derivatives of betamethasone bulk with the effect from December 20, 2006. Last change in the prices was notified in March,2006. While betamethasone alcohol price was cut to Rs.188 per gram from Rs.219,price of betamethasone valerate was slashed to Rs.178 from Rs.208 and that of betamethasone di-sodium phosphate was reduced to Rs 152 from Rs.175. In the case of another bulk drug, Ranitidine Hydrochloride, NPPPA hiked the price to Rs.643.00 per kg from Rs 625 which was fixed in June 05. According to a NPPA press release this price/revised price shall be made effective within 15 days from the date of this order as required under sub paragraph (1) of paragraph 14 of Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1995. The necessary price-list should also be issued as required under sub-paragraph (3) of paragraph 14 of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1995.
