AIPS to start diploma course in patent management

The Academy of Intellectual Property Studies (AIPS) in association with the Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association (IDMA), is inviting registrations to the next batch of its one-year, weekend postgraduate diploma in patent management (PGDPM) course. The course will commence on January 20, 2007. This in-depth course addresses both the theory and practice elements, and is designed to prepare the participants for interaction with patents - it guides them on the role of patents, patentability requirements, and the major concepts of the patent law. It builds a fundamental understanding of the Indian and international Patent Laws, and develops the ability to have proactive discussions with both inventors and the patent attorneys. Prior Art Search, specification drafting, pharma patenting, polymorphism, PCT filing, IP strategy, patent infringement, international licensing agreements, and commercialisation of patents granted etc. are among the issues studied. The course is contemporary and practically relevant. The expert faculty uses case studies extensively, and participants gain insights from faculty members dealing with patents on a daily basis.
