Aurobindo gets US FDA nod for bisoprolol & amoxicillin

Aurobindo Pharma Ltd has received two more approvals from the US FDA for Bisoprolol 5 mg, 10 mg and Amoxicillin oral suspension 200 mg\5ml, and 400mg\5ml. This is the company's 34th and 35th generic approval given by US FDA respectively. Amoxicillin oral suspension is a Beta-lactam antibiotic used often in treating respiratory Infections. GSK is the inventor of this antibiotic and is marketed under the brand name Amoxil. Bisoprolol is a beta1-selective (cardioselective) adrenoceptor-blocking agent. It belongs to the group called Beta-blockers. Bisoprolol tablets are employed in managing cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, coronary heart diseases and arrhythmias etc. Bisoprolol is the original product of Duramed Pharms Barr and is known as Zebeta. These two products currently command a market size of USD 100 mio (appx) in USA, which enhances the company's opportunity in generics business.
