Breach Candy Hospital has installed Siemens Medical Solutions Somatom definition - the world's first dual source computed tomography (CT) system. It is the first medical institute in India to offer the most advanced CT technology in India.
Prof Dr Erich Reinhardt, CEO and president of Siemens Medical Solutions and member of the managing board of Siemens AG inaugurated the state-of-the-art system.

With the introduction of the Somatom definition in India, Siemens Medical Solutions has launched a new era in CT imaging. It is faster than any other existing CT technology. The Somatom definition provides advanced radiographic applications including acute care, cardiology, neurology and oncology. It is the world's first and only dual-source CT scanner, enabling CT.
It is an acquisition with two X-ray sources and two detectors, instead of the single X-ray source and detector configuration commonly available in standard systems. It enhanced capabilities enable physicians to better differentiate, characterize, isolate and distinguish bone, soft tissue and fluid simultaneously.
This newest CT innovation is an ideal tool for one-stop diagnosis in acute care imaging, including the assessment of patients with acute chest pain, abdominal pain, and suspicion of stroke.
