Madras Medical Mission to host International Healthcare Summit on Jan 12, 13

To commemorate the silver jubilee of Chennai based Madras Medical Mission, the hospital is hosting an International Healthcare Summit in collaboration with the International Health Foundation, on January 12 and 13, 2007. The summit will discuss the different "Not For Profit" business models being used in the not for profit healthcare sector and the need and importance of the not for profit healthcare organizations in India and the world. The technical part of the summit would be divided into focus sessions on leadership and governance, resource mobilization and partnership, faith based organizations, innovation and technology and case studies and successful care models. The chief guest of the international healthcare summit will be Dr Kenneth David Kaunda, First President of the Republic of Zambia and the founder of Kenneth Kaunda Peace Foundation. He will be delivering the Madras Medical Mission Silver Jubilee oration. The international conference will also have the participation of eminent personalities from over 25 countries of the world. Professor Per - Gunnar Svennsson, Secretary General, International Hospital Federation, France, Prof Aidan Haligan, the chairman of Elison Health, UK, Karen H Timmons, president and CEO of Joint Commission Resources inc and director of WHO world alliance for patient safety, Pamela Garside, chairman of the international health Summit, USA, Paul Van Ostenberg, managing director of Asia Pacific region of Joint Commission International France, etc. Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Anbumani Ramadoss will preside over the silver jubilee commemoration function and Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, K K S S R Ramachandran will release function of the Silver Jubilee Souvenir. Over 500 national and international healthcare and services sector delegates including representatives from various governments in Africa, SARC, and the ASEAN regions are expected to attend the conference. MMM as a part of their celebrations and the international health care summit has also instituted the "MMM Healthcare Excellence Award 2007" to recognize hospitals in the not for profit sector in the Asian region. The award will be announced on January 12 and the winners will receive a citation and cash prize of Rs five lakh sponsored by ICICI Lombard.
