Kashibai Pharmacy College to conduct seminar on herbal products

The Smt Kashibai Navale College of Pharmacy (SKNCOP) of Singhad Technical Education Society (STES) will organise a two-day seminar on 'Herbal Products - concept to market' at its Pune campus on February 2 and 3, 2007. The seminar is meant for teachers and postgraduate students of pharmacognosy and professionals from herbal industry. Experts from industry, research organizations and academia will deliver lectures on areas like emerging business models in marketing of herbal products, herbal consumerism, efficacy modelling and safety issues in the seminar. It will also focus on topics like herbal extracts manufacturing and QC, formulations and development, GMP, Packaging and labelling, global regulatory scenario and intellectual property management in herbals. According to the organisers main objectives of the seminar are to impart an understanding of converting herbal knowledge into a promising product, and to update knowledge base in areas of newer research methodologies in design and development of herbal products as well as their manufacturing and quality assurance. The seminar also aims to preview a model for efficacy and safety of herbal products and to review their worldwide regulatory status and review and discuss the scope for applications of present TRIPS complaint patent system to herbal drugs in India and worldwide.
