Zydus Research Centre to organise symposium on advances in diabetes therapy

Zydus Research Centre, research arm of the Zydus Group, will organise the third Ramanbhai Foundation International Symposium on 'Advances in diabetes therapy-basic science and clinical aspects' from February 1 to 4, 2007. According to the company announcement, the objective of the symposium is to create a platform for research scientists and professionals to exchange their views and insights on current developments in diabetes therapy. The organisers claim that the symposium will help to bring experts from both the academia and industry, who are working on different ways and means of fighting the diabetes epidemic, together through new therapies and clinical interventions. Twenty five internationally acclaimed scientists, researchers and academicians from countries such as Sweden, the US, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, France and India will deliver lectures on the latest advances in diabetes therapy at the seminar. More than 300 delegates from India and abroad are expected to participate in the symposium, which is being held under the aegis of Ramanbhai Foundation and supported by Zydus Cadila. The panel of speakers in the symposium include: Dr Michael Czech, professor, Department Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Massachusetts, Dr. Richard DiMarchi, professor of Chemistry, Indiana University, USA, Dr. Walter Wahli, founding director, Centre for Integrative Genomics, Switzerland, Dr Juleen Zierath, professor of Physiology, Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery, Karolinska Institute, Sweden and Dr. Bernard Thorens, Professor of Physiology, University of Lausanne.
