Tata AIG Life, IMA launch "Health Quotient"

Tata AIG Life Insurance Company Ltd (Tata AIG Life) in association with the Indian Medical Association (IMA Mumbai Branch) has announced the launch of 'Health Quotient', a unique index developed to measure and quantify health parameters. The "Health Quotient" is a first-of-its-kind health care initiative that seeks to raise awareness about increasing health hazards that are linked to shortcomings in the lifestyles of people. The "Health Quotient" has been developed considering the health standards as suggested by the Indian Medical Association (IMA Mumbai Branch) and insurability parameters recommended by Tata AIG Life. As part of this initiative, individuals will be given questionnaire at malls, supermarkets, housing societies and business complexes. This test will enable individuals to determine how healthy their lifestyle is and whether they need to make appropriate changes in their lifestyle to decrease the health risks. It will also enable individuals to periodically monitor their health quotient and take requisite measures to lead a healthy lifestyle. The respondents will also be given a score certificate detailing their health index. Commenting on this unique initiative Sujata Dutta, VP (A&H), Tata AIG Life Insurance, said, "The Health Quotient is aimed at sensitizing the common man to the growing lifestyle-related ailments. Today, people are more prone to health problems and lifestyle disorders which can severely drain an individual's financial resources. The Health Quotient is an initiative by Tata AIG Life to provide individuals an objective measurement index that can help them to periodically monitor their health and modify their lifestyles to avoid any health related disorders." "Health Quotient" index which measures the disorders linked to a stressful and hectic urban lifestyle index revealed that Bangalore city barely makes it to the score of 58 thereby putting the Bangaloreans in the unsatisfactory rating. This denotes that there is a need for tremendous improvement in health as Bangloreans are prone to a lot of health risks. Commenting on this unique initiative Dr Sunita Kshirsagar, president, Indian Medical Association (Mumbai Branch) said, "We are happy to be associated with Tata AIG Life in our endeavour to create a sense of healthy living across all sections of society. The increasing pressures of urban life have increased our vulnerability to various ailments. Hence, there is a greater need today to raise awareness about ailments linked to unhealthy and stressful lifestyles. Through this association with Tata AIG Life Insurance we are sure of reaching out to people and creating a sense of healthy living and greater awareness of health related situations".
