The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has revised the prices of bulk drugs tolnaftate, ephedrine HCl and pseudo ephedrine HCl.
The prices of tolnaftate has been reduced by Rs 46 per kg from Rs 4167 per kg to Rs 4121 per kg while the prices of ephedrine HCl has been increased by Rs 99 from Rs 1062 per kg to Rs 1161 per kg. The prices of pseudo ephedrine HCl has been increased by Rs 63 from Rs 1761 to Rs 1824 per kg.
The prices of ephedrine HCl and pseudo ephedrine HCl were revised in March 27, 2006 while the prices of tolnaftate have been revised in March 27, 2005.
NPPA, in its circular dated February 13, 2007 vide S O No 189(E) for tolnaftate, and S O No 190(E) for ephedrine HCl and pseudo ephedrine HCl, said that this revised price shall be made effective within 15 days from the date of the order as required under sub paragraph (1) of paragraph 14 of Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1995.
