Bio-Rad Laboratories has unveiled its 'next generation' research equipments, referred to as 'Bio-Marker discovery solution' in scientific parlance, these equipments shall be of immense help in augmenting research on various facets of DNA technologies like protein engineering and design.
The Protein Chip SELDI system uses surface-enhanced laser desorption/ionization (SELDI) technology to detect and calculate the mass of proteins and peptides. The system integrates ProteinChip arrays, a ProteinChip reader, ProteinChip software, and a personal computer to analyse samples based on measured time-of-flight (TOF). Compact enough to fit into almost any laboratory, the ProteinChip system enables direct access to precise mass analysis of peptides and proteins from complex biological samples.
Bio-Rad Laboratories, which is the world's leading laboratory equipments manufacturer unveiled these equipments at a 3 day symposium being organized at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology. The three day event shall witness speakers from some best known institutes from across the world. Leading researchers and scientists working in the area of DNA technologies shall participate in the symposium. Amongst the prominent research institutes which have confirmed their participation are the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore; Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. International institutions like the University of Cambridge, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (FTH), National University, Singapore have also sent expert speakers.
