AIOCD's proposal to launch its company for distribution of pharmaceutical products, All Indian Origin Chemists and Distributors Ltd, has been welcomed by all the major pharma industry associations, it is learnt.
In a meeting with these industry organisations namely Indian Drug Manufacturer's Association (IDMA) and Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI), AIOCD presented its plans and policies of the distribution company. The industry bodies have accepted the project as workable, according to A N Mohan, president, AIOCD.
"We have discussed almost every aspects except the revenue generating model of the project with the industry organisation. With the industry bodies approving the concept, we will proceed with our efforts to have tie-ups with individual companies for product distribution," Mohan told Pharmabiz. He said that the negotiations with the individual companies will take place in the next 10 to 15 days.
AIOCD Ltd. is planning to commence its negotiations by signing tie ups with two leading Indian companies and two MNCs soon. The tie-up is the part of AIOCD's plans to launch its pilot project, Maharashtra State Chemists and Distributors Alliance Ltd (MSCDA Ltd) by this April.
As Pharmabiz reported earlier, the company has initiated talks with the major pharma companies for business deals by March 2007. The organisation has also enlisted around 85 pharmaceutical companies including the major multinationals and Indian companies and will soon finalize working arrangements.
AIOCD has plans to float 10 state wise pharmacy retail companies by January 1, 2008 as the part of its target of setting up 30 companies over the country within two years. The state affiliates of AIOCD, Maharashtra State Chemists and Druggists Association (MSCDA) and All Kerala Chemists and Druggists Association (AKCDA) will roll out their companies by April 2007, according to sources.
