Ajanta net profit moves up by 32%, recommends 20% dividend

Ajanta Pharma Ltd., a leading pharmaceutical formulation company, continued its growth for the fifth consecutive year with an excellent performance. It posted a healthy growth of 32 per cent in profit after tax and 16 per cent in sales for the financial year ended 31st March 2007. The profit after tax for the financial year 2006-07 has grown to Rs 13.71 crore against Rs 10.35 crore for the previous year with sales of Rs 247.17 crore against Rs 212.37 crore for the previous year. The Board has recommended a higher dividend of 20 per cent on equity shares. The consolidated sales for the year ended March 31, 2007 stood at Rs 266.49 crore against Rs 236.07 crore in the previous year, indicating a growth of 13 per cent. Consolidated profit after tax for the year was Rs 14.66 crore against Rs 12.35 crore for the previous year. During the financial year, company launched 15 new products in the speciality segments, many of them being among the first few in the market.
