The manufacturing of life saving bulk drugs needs careful processing in sterile environment. There are many international manufacturers who offer various processing equipments. One such popular equipment is Agitated Nutsch Filter-Dryer. BASP Life Sciences Pvt Ltd, known for its designing and manufacturing of various solid-liquid separation equipments, has brought out its model of Agitated Nutsch Filter-Dryer, Crystal Processor Filter-Dryer, in March 2005. Christened by its manufacturers as 'crystal processor' since the products need to be of crystalline nature to facilitate proper processing, the equipment is capable of mixing- reacting, extracting-filtering, washing-separating, blowing-steaming, drying -discharging, cleaning-sterilizing, etc. as per process demand. The company claim that design was improved to accommodate the equipment in available sterile space besides reducing the capital and operating cost substantially. The new improved design of BASP crystal processor, per ASME Sect. VIII, Div. I along with BPE 2002 standard is suitable for installing in sterile environment meeting USFDA norms for manufacturing Sterile Life Saving Schedule-M and similar Drugs. The BPE 2002 Standard deals with the requirements of the bio processing industry, covering materials, design, fabrications, pressure systems (vessels and piping), examinations, inspections, testing, and certifications. BASP maintains detail records and documents it for further use. According to company release the catch lies in power savings of almost 70 per cent compared to other models in the market. To add to it the specially designed heat- exchanger plate reduces drying time by 20 per cent. Other features include BASP's inexpensive sterile PTFE seals. The headroom required for BASP crystal processor is 1.2 meters less than other models. This saves space and capital, operating and maintenance costs. Nitrogen purging facility ensures additional safety, in case of accidental leakage into the vessel through bellow, to maintain highest product purity.
