ExcipientFest Ireland, a two-day conference and expo devoted to scientific and regulatory developments in excipient technology, will be held at Clarion Hotel, Cork, Ireland, from June 19-20, 2007. Organised under the aegis of ExcipientFest Inc., the event is expected to be a true educational bridge between excipient manufacturers and demanding pharmaceutical industry. ExcipientFest will be Ireland's first tech event and expo for pharmaceutical ingredients, it is learnt.
ExcipientFest will feature in depth technical presentations and workshops on trends in excipient technology and new drug applications. There will also be sessions on regulatory issues. The event will also feature a poster session focused on excipient technology or drug application, a platform to share sub-graduate, graduate students and exhibiting industry professional's work and interact with colleagues from across the globe. A panel of judges from the European and international pharmaceutical industry will select the best two university posters and present awards, it is learnt.
The event will have sessions on bulk excipient Vs. pharmaceutical dosage form manufacture, colours in medicines: regulatory considerations, innovation breakthrough with starch-based film coating polymers and instant release coatings and new opportunities for coating formulations by experts in the field. Also, ExcipientFest Ireland will feature a workshop on 'cleaning of excipients: optimal cleaning chemistries, mechanisms and validation for difficult insoluble coatings and polymers.'
