Ocimum Biosolutions joins Microsoft's BioIT Alliance

Ocimum Biosolutions, one of the leading integrated life-sciences solution providers in Hyderabad, has joined the BioIT Alliance to address the growing need for intelligent informatics solutions in the global life-sciences sector. BioIT Alliance is a cross-industry group working to integrate science and technology in order to accelerate the pace of drug discovery and realize the potential of personalized medicine. The alliance was formed in 2006. Alliance members include Accelrys Software Inc, Affymetrix Inc, Agilent Technologies Inc, Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc, Applied Biosystems, the BioTeam Inc, Digipede Technologies LLC, Discovery Biosciences Corporation, Geospiza Inc, Hewlett-Packard Development Company LP, Illumina Inc, InterKnowlogy, Microsoft Corporation, Sun Microsystems Inc, the Scripps Research Institute, VizX Labs LLC and other key companies in the pharmaceutical, biotech, hardware and software industries. Subash Lingareddy, president of the company, said, "Ocimum is excited to be a part of this global initiative. We look forward to working with other Alliance partners for coming up with cutting edge integrated informatics solutions for enabling quality R&D. This platform further strengthens our goals to come up with affordable solutions for catering diverse economies." Through this initiative all the international projects that are being executed on the life sciences front by the Alliance will also be routed through Ocimum along with other partners.
