PCP to sign MoU with Lupin for nanotechnology project shortly

The Poona College of Pharmacy (PCP), a constituent of Bharathi Vidyapeeth, will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mumbai based pharma major Lupin for a research project on nanotechnology shortly. According to the college authorities, it has signed a confidentiality agreement with Lupin Research Park in the recent past. It is learnt that the agreement with Lupin is with regard to the research projects of mutual interest. However, the college authorities refused to reveal more on the project. Talking to Pharmabiz K R Mahadik, principal, Poona College of Pharmacy, said, "The college has recently entered into a confidentiality agreement with Lupin for a research project on nanotechnology. We will sign a memorandum of understanding with the company over the project shortly". The college has already tied-up with many leading pharmaceutical companies on various research projects. It is collaborated with Pune based Emcure and Indus Biotech Pvt Ltd and Hyderabad based Indian Immunologicals Ltd and Venkateswara Hatcheries Pvt Ltd. Commenting on the benefits of the tie-ups with companies Prof Mahadik said that it is beneficial to the college on several grounds. It provides monetory benefits to the college as well as the students. It will also provide the students an opportunity to get acquainted with the industry trends, he added. The college has revised and modified the syllabus of various courses in the due course of time. According to the college authorities it was primarily intended to keep the students up-to-date on various developments and trends in the industry and equip them to meet current requirements of the industry. The new curriculum provides the students a golden opportunity to learn issues related to intellectual property rights and other developments evolving in research and clinical trial areas.
