US Embassy to hold conference on intellectual property rights in Chandigarh

US Embassy in Delhi, in association with KPO Consultants is holding a conference on `protection of intellectual property and leveraging its strengths' at Chandigarh on October 27. The conference will focus on creating awareness about intellectual property and its various facets while detailing the types of protection available under different IP laws. It also shed light on promoting respect for IP while explaining how commercializing IP can help organizations grow. Speakers for the conference will include Dominic Keating, first secretary of Intellectual Property, US Embassy, officials from the Ministry of Human Resource Development/Copyright Dept, officials from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry/Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks, Shalizeh Nadjmi, International Trade Specialist, US Department of Commerce, Washington DC, Sanjit Kaur Batra, commercial specialist for Intellectual Property, US Embassy, Pankaj Parnami, founder director, KPO Consultatnts, Vivek Atray, Ex-Director, Information Technology, Chandigarh,and Marty Shively of Microsoft Corporation, Kanti Prabha, United Lex LLC and Rajashekar, Director, Acumen LLC The conference will be attended by Lawyers, IPR experts, knowledge management executives, patent process outsourcing companies, academicians and students, the organizers said. The topics to be covered will include IP in pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, trademark and geographical indications.
