UAS Pharmaceuticals to foray into Indian dermatology market

The Australia based UAS Pharmaceuticals Pty Ltd, the company specialising in the manufacturing and development of dermatological products, is foraying into Indian dermatology market with 12 products as the part of its market expansion in South East Asian countries. The company will launch its products at Chennai by the second half of November 2007 and will roll out the brands over the country through its Indian agent. The company is planning to market the products, positioned in the ethical segment and targeted for persons with diseased skin condition, through prescription route, through leading dermatologists. UAS Pharma will offer a range of products under three brands - Dermavive, Neutriderm and Sunstop - in India, including acne skin cleansing bar, conditioning shampoo, dry skin crème, dry skin cleansing bar, moisturising lotion, oily skin cleansing bar, shampoo and body wash, shower and bath oil, soap free wash, anti dandruff shampoo, moisturising lotion and sunscreen cream. With this, the company is planning to explore the Rs 1500 crore worth dermatology market in India, the seventh largest therapeutic segment in the country. The product range also covers the Indian skin care market worth more than Rs 2000 crore, added sources close to the company. The company has signed agreement with the Chennai based Essen Associates, the C&F Agents for GSK, Aventis, Bluecross and Novartis, for product distribution. "Given the overall pharmaceutical growth in India and the shift towards qualitative products, UAS Pharmaceuticals has a long term view of the Indian market," said the official from Essen Associates. Established in June 2000, the company is currently marketing its dermatological products in Brunei, Cambodia, Maldives, Mauritius, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand, other than Australia and would continue to focus on expansion in South East Asian region, according to company officials.
