Bangalore to host 'Bangalore Nano 2007' from Dec 6

The Karnataka government in association with Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research would hold a two-day conference titled Bangalore Nano 2007 from December 6 in Bangalore. The event, under the aegis of departments of information technology, biotechnology and science & technology of the state government, will be held at The Grand Ashok, Bangalore. It will also host a conference along with a concurrent poster session. The theme of the event is "Bridging the Research-Industry Gap in Nanotechnology". The two key components to this event are International Conference and RICH- (Research Industry Collaboration Hub). The International Conference will be addressed by 35 leading global speakers and will be attended by industry captains, researchers, technocrats and entrepreneurs. They will cover the key areas of research, commercial applications, ICT, electronics, products, chemicals and nano materials, nanobiotechnology and nano medicine. Under the RICH programme 24 Researchers or emerging companies who have developed Nanotechnologies having potential of commercial applications will make ten-minute podium presentations. The presentations will be followed by one to one meetings wherein business discussions can be held with these emerging companies to explore future tie-ups for upscaling their research into application / commercial ventures. Young scientists and researchers from premier institutes and universities will be given opportunity to showcase their innovations and research outcomes in the field of nano science and nanotechnology on the international platform. Participants comprising employees of Indian and multinational organizations, venture capitalists, government representatives and fellow researchers will present papers at the event. More than 20 papers on topics ranging from nano particles, nano tubes, nano medicine to nano dentistry will be presented. Some of the participating institutes are IIT- Mumbai and Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, Pondicherry University, Indian Institute of Science, National Physical Laboratory, Jawaharlal Nehru University, National Institute of Technology, Ceramic Technological Institute of BHEL to name a few.
