The company acquired Serologicals in its entirety, which included multiple companies that develop and sell a variety of products. With this, Serologicals' brands from Chemicon, Upstate and Linco now become available to Indian researchers through Millipore India.
Chemicon has a broad range of research products including speciality antibodies, proteins, cell lines, media and other reagents and tools for customers focused on the areas of neuroscience, infectious diseases, oncology and stem cell research. The company also supplies monoclonal antibodies, conjugates and biologically-based detection kits for use in diagnostic laboratories.
On the other hand, Upstate provide a wide range of research products and services, including speciality reagents, monoclonal antibodies, proteins and kits utilised in cell signalling research and compound screening against kinases, ion channels and GPCR's to increase the efficiency of compound selection and assist in detecting potentially toxic side effects from new therapeutic compounds.
Linco developed immunoassay kits for detection and identification of proteins to facilitate research in metabolic diseases such as diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease.
The acquisition of Serologicals is of importance to Indian researchers engaged in stem cell research, infectious diseases, immunodetection, drug discovery, cytokines and growth factors, cell signaling, cell surface markers, protein expression studies, cardiovascular and endocrinal disorders, apoptosis and cancer biology, nervous system development and differentiation, liquid phase protein arrays/ multiplex arrays, matrix biology, biomarkers, chromatin and histone biology.
