LifeCell accredited by DSIR

The research and development division of LifeCell, pioneers in cord blood stem cell banking in India, has been recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR). According to a company press release, with this accreditation, LifeCell is entitled to receive support from the premier government establishment such as Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST) on any advanced research in Stem Cell Biology. Abhaya Kumar, vice chairman, LifeCell, said, "From the onset, we have been striving to set very high standards that are in alignment with Life Cell's vision. With this accreditation, our adherence has been formally recognized. In a country like India, where stem cell industry is still at its infant stage this accreditation is a boost to LifeCell to promote further research in Stem Cell and to collaborate with other national institutions of excellence". R Ezhil Arasan, executive director and president, LifeCell said, "LifeCell R&D facility has been created to address to the speedier development of stem cells from various sources and to evolve clinically meaningful research outputs. The R&D faculty is unique in it's width of scientific talents and has rich experienced scientists drawn from some of world's best institutions from USA and Japan. Our scientific advisory board members are clearly amongst the best in the world stem cell research and with all strengths coming together, our focus is to evolve viable therapeutic options in the years to come while we commit to progress our research systematically".
