The Gurgaon based Bio-Rad Laboratories India Pvt Ltd, the 100 per cent subsidiary of Bio-Rad Laboratories USA, has introduced three biomarker discovery products, ProteinChip Seldi, Bio-Plex suspension and Bioplex in the domestic market. These products will be able to provide complete solution to the biomarker discovery segment.
Biomarker discovery can measure and quantify biological parameters, which serve as indices for health and physiology related assessments. Some of these key assessments are psychiatric disorders, environmental exposure and its effects, metabolic processes, substance abuse, pregnancy, cell line development, epidemiologic studies etc.
"We have recently introduced three biomarker discovery products in India. Our new products are in the pipeline and we are expecting to launch them very soon. Biomarker helps in reducing detection threshold of low abundant protein which acts as barrier in disease progression and host response. It will be more helpful to the scientist while discovering new molecule", a senior official from the company told Pharmabiz.
The ProteinChip SELDI system offers a fast, effective route to biomarker discovery and analysis. The system provides, precise quantitation, accurate size determination of peptides and proteins of high sensitivity, resolving power, powerful bioinformatics tools and maximized dynamic range. It uses surface-enhanced laser desorption / ionization Seldi technology to detect and calculate the mass of proteins and peptides. The system integrates ProteinChip arrays, a ProteinChip reader, ProteinChip software, and a personal computer to analyze samples based on measured time-of-flight (TOF).
