PerkinElmer Inc., a global technology leader in health sciences and Photonics, has announced the expansion of its health and environmental focus to India with the opening of a new global EcoAnalytix application and technical centre in Mumbai.
The EcoAnalytix application centre will be dedicated to application development and methods optimization for a range of scientific and industrial laboratory applications including environmental monitoring, food safety and sustainable energy.
On the eve of the opening of the EcoAnalytix application and technical centre in Mumbai PerkinElmer's president and chief executive officer, Robert Friel, remarked that "We are pleased with the progress we have made in India to date and feel that today's announcement demonstrates our commitment to making significant and long-term investments in India and the Asia-Pacific region that support the expansion of the health and environmental infrastructures of emerging growth nations,". "The expansion of our global EcoAnalytix initiative to India helps ensure that our ecosystem and public health and safety are preserved now and for future generations", he added.
According to Jai Shankar, president, PerkinElmer India, the Centre apart from providing the Indian customers early access to the applications would boost the company's overall growth in analytical sciences market locally.
EcoAnalytix is PerkinElmer's collaborative problem-solving initiative that creates application-based solutions to improve business ecosystems, while supporting local, regional and global initiatives that contribute to a healthier ecosystem worldwide.
PerkinElmer India currently serves 1500 clients across various verticals including pharma, government bodies, environmental, petrochemical and chemical.
Currently, the Indian Life and analytical sciences market is estimated to be approx Rs 2700 crore and expected to touch the Rs 4,000 crore mark by 2010 indicating a 12 per cent annual growth. The estimated relevant business market for PerkinElmer is around Rs 1,840 crore as per SDI
