The Bulk Drugs Manufacturers Association (BDMA) is organizing a two-day national seminar on 'Roadmap to the Indian drug industry' on September 15 and 16 in Hyderabad. The seminar is being organized to make an attempt to enlarge the scope for the development of the industry in research & development, penetrative marketing, good manufacturing practices, clean environment, clinical research and related services, and to enable Indian pharmaceutical community to emerge as the global pharma hub. The seminar will prove to be a good platform to exchange views with the captains of the industry and other eminent personalities. Apart from industry captains, several senior officials are also expected to attend the two-day seminar. The theme of the seminar rightly reflects the standing of bulk drug industry today in India. The bulk drug industry did make considerable and laudable progress so far. But it is Lilliputian in the context of industry of its like in the world. Therefore, it is imperative that Indian bulk drug industry is required to make a frog-leap and make big strides to catch up with goliath like giants in the field in the world. The industry, therefore, will have to make efforts in areas like research & development, penetrative marketing, good manufacturing practice and clean environment, BDMA president Narayan Reddy said. BDMA as a body represents entire bulk drug industry and has been conducting national seminars periodically to deliberate upon various issues confronting the industry as a whole and for its overall growth in particular. CEO's, managing directors, heads of plants, scientists, heads of Q.A & Q.C. and representatives of trade will be participating in the seminar.
