NPPA revises prices of 174 formulation packs & 3 bulk drugs

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has revised the prices of 174 formulation packs, including a few of drugs being imported by some leading players like Pfizer and Novartis. Besides, the pricing authority also revised the prices of three bulk drugs. The prices of formulation packs were hiked by upto 15 per cent in some cases. As many as eight imported drugs, including four from Pfizer, became costlier. Other imported packs whose prices went up are from Novartis, Win-Medicare and Shreya Life Sciences, according to a recent notification by NPPA. The imported products which became costlier included depo medrol, solu medrol, vitalux plus tablet, daivobet ointment and oral recosulin. Combination packs involving aspirin, glipizide, oxytetracycline, trimethoprim, ibuprofen, rifampicin, sulphaxoxine, analgin, chloroquine, gentamycin, cloxacillin, ciprofloaxacin, prednisolone, salbutamol and multivitamin were also among those came under price revision upwardly. In the bulk drug category, price of theophylline was fixed at Rs 512 per kg and that of hydroxyl ethyl theophylline at Rs 534. The price of vitamin e acetate was revised to be at Rs 1156 per kg, according to the notification.
